Arsenal ratings

Bernd Leno 6

Couldn’t really do much about the Leicester goal. Had a fairly quiet afternoon other than that. Made a few smart saves.

Cedric Soares 7

Handed a chance to play in his preferred position of right-back and played well. Linked up nicely with Pepe throughout.

David Luiz 8

A rock at the back. Fresh off playing 90 minutes in Greece on Thursday, the Brazilian shone and kept Jamie Vardy quiet.

Pablo Mari 7

Started slowly and was culpable of backing off Leicester attackers. The Spaniard improved, though, and finished the game well.

Kieran Tierney 8

As always, bombed forward and caused plenty of problems down the left flank. Looked a tad rusty against Manchester City last week, but was excellent today.

Mohamed Elneny 6

His usual busy self in midfield as he worked tirelessly to break up Leicester attacks. Like the whole Arsenal team started slowly, but got better.

Granit Xhaka 8

The Switzerland international was the glue that held the team together today. Didn’t put a foot wrong in the middle of the park.

Nicolas Pepe 9 | Star man

Arguably his best performance in an Arsenal shirt to date. Ran Luke Thomas ragged, so much so the Leicester left-back was subbed at half-time. Deserved his goal.

Emile Smith Rowe 5

Was just starting to grow into the game when he had to come off before half-time due to injury. Arsenal will hope it isn’t too serious.

Willian 8

It has been a torrid season for the Brazilian so far, but could this be the turning point? He was so much better and finished the game with two assists.

Alexandre Lacazette 8

Slotted his penalty calmly and had a decent game. Has had to wait patiently for his chance, but took it today with both hands.

Substitutions

Martin Odegaard (Smith Rowe 42’) 7

Thrown on just before half-time and came to life at the break. Played a pivotal role in creating Arsenal’s third goal. Such a classy player.

Thomas Partey (Elneny 66’) 6

Off the bench and another handy 25 minutes in the tank for the midfielder as he returns from injury.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Lacazette 83’) N/A

Subs not used: Ryan, Holding, Bellerin, Ceballos, Martinelli, Saka.
