Arsenal were thumped 5-0 by Manchester City on Saturday as the Gunners’ miserable start to the season continued.

Simon Collings was at the Etihad Stadium to review another woeful display as the pressure continues to mount on Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta...

Bernd Leno 5

Conceded five but, had it not been for a few of his saves in the second half, it could have been even worse for Arsenal.

Calum Chambers 3

Had a torrid afternoon playing in a back three. Let Ilkay Gundogan get in behind him for the first goal and it didn’t get better from there.

Rob Holding 3

Struggled in the heart of defence to deal with City’s attack. Let Torres drift off him for the hosts’ fifth goal of the afternoon.

Sead Kolasinac 3

Another who struggled in the back three. Was tormented by Gabriel Jesus and Torres got joy down his flank, too.

Cedric 3

The Portugal international struggled against Chelsea last week and it was the same story here at the Etihad.

Granit Xhaka 2

Sent off after 35 minutes for a reckless tackle. Had been doing okay until then, but suffered from what looked like a rush of blood to the head.

Martin Odegaard 4

Probably Arsenal’s best player but, again, that isn’t much to boast about. Tried to get things going in midfield, but failed.

Kieran Tierney 4

As always, his performance was full of heart and passion, but got overrun down that City right-hand side.

Bukayo Saka 4

Only played 45 minutes as he was replaced by Mohamed Elneny at the break. Had little ball and little chance to impact the game.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 3

Like many of his team-mates, barely had a kick all afternoon. A thankless task up front, particularly when Arsenal were down to 10 men.

Emile Smith Rowe 4

Like the rest of the front three, he spent the majority of his game chasing shadows. A few nice breaks and turns early on.

Substitutions

Mohamed Elneny (Saka 45’) 4

Couldn’t stop the onslaught of City attacks.

Alexandre Lacazette (Aubameyang 58’) 4

Came on and spent the 30 minutes or so he was on the pitch defending.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles (Odegaard 71’) N/A

Subs not used: Ramsdale, Okonkwo, Mari, Tavares, Lokonga, Martinelli.
