Arsenal made it four wins in a row and moved into the Champions League places by beating Watford 3-2 at Vicarage Road.

The Gunners opened the scoring inside five minutes through Martin Odegaard but they were quickly pegged back by Cucho Hernandez.

Mikel Arteta’s side restored their lead on the half-hour mark through Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli added a third after the break.

Watford did hit back with a late goal from Moussa Sissoko but they were unable to complete an unlikely comeback.

The win lifts Arsenal into fourth place and boosts their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.

Simon Collings was at Vicarage Road to rate the Arsenal players...

Aaron Ramsdale 6

Could do nothing about the Watford goal, which was a stunning strike by Cucho. Distribution wasn’t at its best, though, compared to his usual standard.

Cedric 7

In the absence of Takehiro Tomiyasu, the Portugal international is enjoying a decent run of form. Played well today and had a hand in Arsenal’s third goal.

Ben White 6

Was fairly solid for most of the game, but will be disappointed with Watford’s second goal as Sissoko broke through his challenge before scoring.

Gabriel 6

Not as dominant as he usually is and Watford caused Arsenal problems in the first-half, particularly on the counter.

Kieran Tierney 5

Really struggled today and wasn’t at his best. Watford got all their joy down Arsenal’s left, with Kiko Femenia overlapping. Tierney perhaps needed more support from Martinelli.

Thomas Partey 8

The time when he was rating his own performances as four out of 10 seem an age ago. Put in another fine display in midfield and ran the show at times.

Granit Xhaka 7

Just quietly went about his business in the middle of park. Rarely put a foot wrong, until very late on when he was partly to blame for Watford’s second goal.

Bukayo Saka 9 | Star man

Quite simply a brilliant performance from the winger, who had a goal and an assist inside the opening 30 minutes. Terrorised Watford’s defence all game.

Martin Odegaard 9

Gets better and better with every game he plays. Opened the scoring with a lovely-taken goal and was excellent all afternoon.

Gabriel Martinelli 7

Was having a fairly quiet game but then burst into life by scoring Arsenal’s third goal. He finished that chance really well and is proving to be a dangerous weapon out left.

Alexandre Lacazette 7

People can rightly question his lack of goals, but he still brings a lot to this Arsenal team. Finished the game with two assists and linked the play well.

Substitutions

Nicolas Pepe (Martinelli 72’) 6

Got another chance to impress late on. Had a few nice runs and was lively during his 20 minutes.

Eddie Nketiah (Lacazette 79’) 6

A bright little cameo from the striker, who hit the post with a good effort.

Rob Holding (Odegaard 90’) N/A

Subs not used: Leno, Tavares, Swanson, Elneny, Lokonga, Hutchinson.
