Arsenal players ratings vs Wolves: Martin Odegaard leads Gunners fight back as Thomas Partey impresses

Arsenal moved to within a point of the top four after coming from behind to beat Wolves.

The Gunners gifted the visitors the lead in the first-half, when Gabriel under hit a back-pass to Aaron Ramsdale and Hwang Hee-chan pounced to score.

Arsenal improved from there, however Wolves was organised at the back and they held firm until the 82nd minute, when substitute Nicolas Pepe scored an equaliser.

Arsenal then struck a winner right at the death as Alexandre Lacazette scored to move up them to fifth and one point off Manchester United in fourth, but with two games in hand.

Aaron Ramsdale 6

Couldn’t really do anything about the Wolves goal as Gabriel left him short and stranded. Other than that, he didn’t have much to do.

Cedric 7

The right-back was forced to start again in the absence of Takehiro Tomiyasu. Was solid enough and didn’t put a foot wrong.

Ben White 6

Not as dominating and commanding as he has been on other occasions this season. Passing was a little slow and ponderous at times.

Gabriel 5

Had a howler for the Wolves goal as he under hit a back-pass back to Ramsdale. A rare mistake from the Brazilian this season.

Kieran Tierney 6

Like a lot of the Arsenal team he did fine, but this was below the level he can produce. Didn’t get any joy from his runs forward.

Thomas Partey 8

One of Arsenal’s better players on the night. Had a couple of nice moments and almost opened Wolves up on occasion with his passing.

Granit Xhaka 7

It felt like he was a little out of position early on and Daniel Podence was getting joy in the space he vacated. Xhaka dropped deeper and improved.

Bukayo Saka 7

Enjoyed a few mazy runs that had the Wolves defence backpedaling, but his game lacked the final ball. Wasted one good chance in the first-half by taking too long to shoot.

Martin Odegaard 8 | Star man

Arsenal’s best attacking player and always looked the most likely to open Wolves up. Some of his passing was excellent, like the one to find Nketiah for the Arsenal goal.

Gabriel Martinelli 6

Felt he should have had a penalty in the opening minute and worked tirelessly down the left flank. Didn’t have much joy though.

Alexandre Lacazette 6

The Frenchman was having such a frustrating night and then somehow, right at the death, he got the winning goal to send the Emirates wild.

Substitutions

Nicolas Pepe (Martinelli 71’) 8

Off the bench and made a big impact by scoring. Took his goal well too when Arsenal had been wasteful before that. Changed the game.

Eddie Nketiah (Cedric 76’) 7

Another substitute who had made a good impact. Created the goal for Pepe to finish.

Nuno Tavares (Tierney 90’) N/A

Subs not used: Leno, Holding, Tavares, Swanson, Elneny, Lokonga, Hutchinson.
