Mesut Ozil has warned Scotland that they won’t be able to stop Germany if the world champions replicate their performance against Poland.

The Arsenal playmaker was on spectacular form as Joachim Low’s number 10 in Frankfurt, providing a sublime pass for Thomas Muller and creating havoc as Germany gained top spot in Group D with a 3-1 win.

Scotland’s shock defeat to Georgia in Tblisi has left Gordon Strachan’s side struggling to achieve even a playoff berth, and Ozil intends to further damage their Euro 2016 hopes at Hampden Park on Monday.

“I think we deserve to be at the top of the group,” Ozil told reporters. “Now we have to go further on Monday. We know it will be a tough game because Scotland will fight until the 90th minute. But if we show what we can then Scotland won't be able to stop us.”

Germany are two points clear of Poland at the top of their qualifying group, with the Republic of Ireland a further two points behind. Scotland lie a point behind their neighbours with three games to go.
