Arsenal target Arda Turan as Chelsea battle Everton and Liverpool for Axel Witsel race - Sunday's transfer gossip

With Euro 2016 almost at its end football fans across the land now face the desolate prospect of a whopping 34 days without competitive football.

To sate their appetite? Well it’s merely pre-season friendlies in their dozen and all the twists and tales of a transfer window where the Premier League has more money to spend than ever before.

Not that money has always a guarantee of expenditure at the Emirates, with Arsenal fans already growing frustrated at their club’s failure to spend heavily. Arsene Wenger has already brought in one addition, Granit Xhaka, to his well-stocked midfield but will he stop there when he needs a new striker and centre-back?

Perhaps not – with AS today claiming that Arda Turan could be north London-bound. That is unless Chelsea get wind of any potential move, as it appears they may be in the mood to gazump every Premier League transfer.

First Michy Batshuayi was whisked away from Crystal Palace and Tottenham. Now, reports claim, Axel Witsel has emerged as a transfer target for the Blues days after he was linked to an Everton move.

Ronald Koeman’s side could get revenge though, if they can secure Chelsea target Kalidou Koulibaly. Reports in Italy claim that Everton are willing to break their transfer record for the Napoli defender.
