Arsenal gossip round-up: £17m Mudryk option emerges; Pedro Neto fee revealed; Barcelona want Bellerin

Marc Mayo22 August 2022

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has spoken of his desire to increase his team’s “firepower” in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Pedro Neto has emerged as the Gunners’ top transfer priority while Mykhaylo Mudryk is seen as a cheaper alternative.

“We know as well where we are short, where we have to add more firepower,” said Arteta after the 3-0 win over Bournemouth. “And if we can do it, we will do it.”

But, players may first have to be sold with Hector Bellerin and Nicolas Pepe tipped to leave before the deadline.

Here is your latest round-up of Arsenal transfer gossip...

Mykhaylo Mudryk

Arsenal have lined up Ukraine international winger Mudryk as a slightly cheaper alternative to the likes of Pedro Neto and Lucas Paqueta.

French outlet Media Foot say the Gunners will have to pay at least £17million to land the player, who is under contract to 2026.

No offer has landed yet but Arsenal are reportedly the most interested team in Mudryk as Europe’s giants consider bringing over the Shakhtar Donetsk starlet.

Arsenal have made Neto their number one priority to improve Arteta’s attack, according to The Athletic, but they may have to send Pepe on loan to Nice first.

Agent Jorge Mendes has been central to talks between the Gunners and Wolves with negotiations said to have taken place for over a month.

A fee of £50m will be required to sign Neto, talkSPORT claim, with Manchester United said to have been offered the Portuguese winger.

Hector Bellerin

Barcelona have told Hector Bellerin to wait until the end of the transfer window to complete a move to the club.

Arsenal are happy to let the Spanish full-back leave for free to dispose of his £100,000 weekly wages, once a new team is found.
