Mesut Ozil's agent addresses Arsenal exit rumours amid Fenerbahce transfer links

Mesut Ozil's immediate future appears to be at Arsenal with the German's agent confirming he will see out the remainder of his contract in London.

The 31-year-old's reported £350,000-a-week deal is set to expire at the end of next season, with reports pointing towards a move to Turkish club Fenerbahce this summer.

Though falling out of favour under former boss Unai Emery, the World Cup winner has found himself back in the picture under Mikel Arteta, featuring 23 times in all competitions this season.

However, Ozil is believed to be one of three Arsenal players stalling on a pay-cut, with the rest of the squad taking a 12.5 per cent year-long wage reduction.

And with the financial ramifications of the coronavirus pandemic set to be drastic, rumours have circulated stating Arsenal are looking for a potential buyer - regardless of any future reduction agreements.

Ozil's agent, Erkut Sogut, however, insists the midfielder will be staying until the end of his contract, also refusing to comment on the links to Fenerbahce.

"Mesut has a one-year contract. There will be no change in this regard," Sogut told BeIN Sport.

"So what happens next, time will show. Mesut will be 32 years old and will have a few more years in his career.

"Mesut and his family will make a decision. It will be the best of all. I cannot speak about Mesut and Fenerbahce because I have no right to speak on this matter according to the principle of confidentiality."

Back in April, Sogut also insisted Ozil's Arsenal career may yet be extended.

“Maybe he will stay and have a new contract with Arsenal," he told The i. “Maybe he has a good end to the season and good next season and the club offers him a new contract.

“It’s down to the club in the end, not to me or Mesut. If the club is not giving him an offer then he can’t stay. If he gets an offer from the club he will consider it.”
