Alexandre Lacazette says Arsenal remain confident of securing Champions League football for next season even if the Gunners don't win the Europa League.

Arsenal suffered their sixth league loss on the road at Goodison Park on Sunday after Phil Jagielka's 10th-minute goal secured a 1-0 win for Everton that left the Gunners in fifth place - one point behind Tottenham.

While the race for a top-four spot is tight, Arsenal are still able to secure Champions League football via the Europa League, where they play Napoli in their quarter-final first-leg clash on Thursday night.

And, ahead of the match at the Emirates Stadium, Lacazette admitted that despite playing poorly against Everton, the north Londoners are confident of going all the way in the Europa League.

Speaking to reporters at Colney, the striker said of the defeat at Goodison Park: "Sunday we played bad. The whole team...we didn't do what the coach asked us.

"But we still have confidence. We know we're still in the race for the Champions League, we want to win a trophy so we are confident.

"Sometimes we want to do something but some days it’s not as we want, you can’t play as you want. That’s it."

Arsenal's home form has been a key driving force behind their re-emergence as a top-four contender although the Gunners' away form has let them down in both the league and the Europa League.

In the last round of the latter competition, Arsenal lost 3-1 away to Rennes before overturning the deficit with a 3-0 home victory to go through to the quarter-finals.

And Lacazette said: "We know we are better at home than we are away, so tomorrow is really important for us. We also know we can get a good result away, so both games are going to be important for us."

"Last season we failed next to the final. So we want to go forward and play this game well."
