Unai Emery insists top four finish is still realistic target for Arsenal after Huddersfield win

Tony Mogan9 February 2019

Unai Emery admits it will be “difficult” for Arsenal to finish in a Champions League spot but insists the club are motivated to keep on fighting.

The Gunners sealed a 2-1 win over the Premier League’s bottom side Huddersfield on Saturday afternoon. But a comfortable 3-0 win for Manchester United over Fulham earlier this afternoon saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side move into the top four for the first time this season.

Arsenal sit sixth, level on points with fifth place Chelsea, who are in action against Manchester City on Sunday.

Emery has previously admitted United, undefeated under Solskjaer, and Chelsea are the current favourites to clinch fourth place, with City, Liverpool and Tottenham pulling away from the chasing pack.

"It was very important to win, to be closer to the top four and our target is this," Emery said.

"After 26 games there is a one-point difference between us and Manchester United.

"If we ask is it difficult for us, I think it's difficult, but we can. After 26 games we are on our way and our motivation is very great and we've brought our target closer.

"I am very happy. We were working well. Every player was working and helping each other and today I'm very proud with our work."
