Arsene Wenger admitted he was left frustrated by Arsenal’s missed opportunities after their 2-0 defeat at home to Barcelona last night.

Two second half goals from Lionel Messi have left the Gunners on the brink of Champions League elimination, with the 2014/15 winners set to seal their passage to the quarter final stages.

Arsenal held their own for the opening 45 minutes, but failed to replicate their first half work rate in the second, before being eventually undone by Luis Enrique’s side.

“Barcelona is a great team. We put a lot of energy in the game and technically we were very average,” he told BT Sport in the aftermath.
