Arsene Wenger has revealed he will feel nothing but pride if his successor wins more trophies than him at Arsenal.
Wenger's current contract at Arsenal, the club he has been at for 20 years, is set to expire next summer with the Frenchman's long-term future at the club remaining a key question for fans.
The 67-year-old is Arsenal's most successful manager having overseen the acquisition of 15 trophies during his long tenure at the north London club but he has admitted he will be happy to see his eventual replacement do better than him.
Speaking in an interview with former Arsenal star Ian Wright, Wenger told the club's official website: "It will be my pride to see somebody come in and do better.
"Or at least he’s in a position to do better!
"It’s important, the legacy, because for me a club is as well about identity, and values.
"The values here are carried by the manager because I stay here for a long time, and I hope that these values – that are respected around the world – will continue because it’s based on respect, humility, togetherness and moving forward."
