Arsene Wenger has rejected transfer speculation linking Mesut Ozil with an Emirates departure.

Turkish giants Besiktas were recently linked with a highly-ambitious swoop for Arsenal’s record signing, who has also attracted interest from Juventus as the Scudetto winners look to replace Arturo Vidal.

However Wenger has no intention of releasing a player who, having taken time to settle in north London, has taken major strides forward in recent months. Those improvements reached a peak in Sunday’s victory over Crystal Palace, where the German midfielder misplaced just one pass and provided an assist for Olivier Giroud.

"Ozil is a wonderful player who is completely committed to the club and focused on getting some good results," Wenger said.

"He is completely committed to the club. He is focused on getting results."

The manager also confirmed that he expected Alexis Sanchez to be close to his best for the visit of Liverpool on Monday. The Chilean forward made a surprise return to the side in Arsenal’s season opener against West Ham before starting against Crystal Palace.

Sanchez forced through Arsenal’s winner in a promising display and Wenger is confident there will be more to come from the 26-year-old against the club’s top-four rivals.

"I think, on Monday night, he will not be far from 100 per cent," Wenger said. "It's surprising because, when he doesn't have the fitness, he has the mental resources."
