Axel Disasi first words as £39m Chelsea transfer confirmed

New Chelsea signing Axel Disasi say he is ready for the "aggressivity" of the Premier League.

The centre-back has become the Blues' sixth summer signing, arriving from Monaco on a six-year contract in a deal worth around £39million.

Mauricio Pochettino was forced back into the transfer market following a serious injury to centre-back Wesley Fofana, who is expected to miss most of the upcoming season after undergoing surgery on his knee.

Disasi, a France international who can also play at right-back, is excited by the challenge ahead.

He told the club's official website: "I'm very happy to be part of this club, and I hope to see you soon at the Bridge.

"The pace, the impact and the aggressivity [of the Premier League], I think I'm ready for this and I'm confident about my game.

"I'm very happy that I've seen the stadium. I'm happy and excited to start."

Chelsea are next in action in nine days’ time for their Premier League opener against Liverpool.
