The flurry of festive fixtures is fast approaching, but first we have to negotiate the international break.

A week or two away from the domestic calendar has sparked plenty of transfer speculation, and Standard Sport brings you the best lines from today's papers.

The future of Leicester's Jamie Vardy is leading the agenda, with reports on Friday suggesting both Barcelona and Real Madrid were preparing to send scouts to England's friendly with Spain in Alicante before the star suffered an injury.

The 28-year-old became the first player to score in nine successive Premier League games in the same season with a penalty against Watford last week and has helped propel the Foxes to within a point of the top flight summit.

Meanwhile, there is an update on Cristiano Ronaldo's next step, and David De Gea's immediate future continues to be the subject of speculation.
