Mauricio Pochettino not concerned by ghosts of FC Barcelona vs PSG 6-1 comeback

Mauricio Pochettino says he is not concerned by memories of Paris Saint-Germain's 2017 Champions League collapse against Barcelona.

The French side held a four-goal lead over Barcelona in their previous last-16 tie, but went on to collapse spectacularly at Camp Nou in the second leg, losing 6-1 and falling out of the competition.

Pochettino's PSG side put on a stunning display in beating Barca 4-1 in Spain last month, and host the last-16 return leg on Wednesday night.

The former Tottenham manager, who took the north London side to their first ever Champions League final in 2019 where they lost to Liverpool, has been in charge in Paris since January and has no concerns there will be a repeat of that 2017 collapse this week.

"I'm not conditioned by what happened in the past or have any emotion about it," said Pochettino.

"We just have to try to win the game to get to the next round and that's what we'll try to do from the first minute.

“How we both start the game is crucial. There's still 90 minutes to play and we have to be consistent throughout the game and imagine that we are starting the tie at 0-0."
