Barcelona's surprise January signing Kevin-Prince Boateng has been included in the provisional squad for Wednesday night's Copa del Rey meeting with Sevilla.

Boateng, who has joined on loan from Sassuolo until the end of the season, was unveiled at the Nou Camp on Tuesday, and could make his debut in the first leg of the quarter final clash.

Arsenal target Denis Suarez has also been included, having sat out the LaLiga win over Leganes at the weekend.

However, Ernesto Valverde has left Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets out of the 19-man squad as he looks to rest two of his key men at the start of a run of four games in 11 days.

Messi was one of several first team regulars rested for the first leg of the last 16 tie against Levante, but was recalled to the line-up for the second leg with Barca trailing 2-1.

The Argentine was on the scoresheet in a 3-0 win to keep the pursuit of a fifth successive Copa del Rey title alive.

Barcelona squad to face Sevilla: Ter Stegen, Cillessen, Semedo, Pique, Lenglet, Vermaelen, Alba, S. Roberto, O. Busquets, Rakitic, Arthur, Alena, Vidal, Riqui Puig, Denis Suarez, Coutinho, Malcom, Prince-Boateng, L. Suarez.
