Bayer Leverkusen's Roger Schmidt: Things will really kick off against Tottenham

Bayer Leverkusen coach Roger Schmidt believes his side's Champions League clash with Tottenham on Tuesday could spark Group E into life.

The German side will host Mauricio Pochettino's men at the BayArena tonight hoping to overtake the north Londoners, who currently sit in second place in the group standings following one win and one loss in the Champions League so far this term.

With leaders Monaco sitting just one point ahead of Spurs, there is still hope for the likes of Leverkusen to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition despite the club having drawn their opening two Champions League group games.

And speaking about the club's match against Spurs, Leverkusen coach Schmidt said: "Not much has happened yet in the group, so you get the feeling it will really kick off against Tottenham.

"You can't ask for a better match."

Leverkusen could be without captain Lars Bender, who has flu, for the visit of Spurs while Pochettino will have Toby Alderweireld and Harry Kane out through injury while Kyle Walker is rested.
