Arsene Wenger is 'confident' that Mathieu Debuchy is ready to start against Bayern Munich tonight.

The Gunners have been dealt several injury blows in the build up to the clash with Pep Guardiola's side, the latest of which concerns Hector Bellerin.

The Spaniard, who has established himself as first choice on the right hand side of Arsenal's defence, has suffered a groin injury and is unable to feature at the Allianz Arena.

Debuchy is in line to replace the 20-year-old and Wenger is adamant that the French defender is ready for the challenge that the Bundesliga champions will pose.

“Debuchy will play and I’m confident,” he told the club's official website.

“I trust Debuchy, he is a 100 per cent educated player in the box and in training.

"Fortunately he played a full game against Sheffield Wednesday and physically he should be well."

Although Debuchy featured in the 3-0 defeat at Hillsborough, the full back is short of competitive game time this season and has played just 66 minutes of Premier League football since August.
