Paris Saint-Germain have come out in support of their Ligue 1 rivals AS Monaco ahead of their Champion’s League tie with Arsenal.
The Parisians firmly placed their support behind #TeamFRANCE, in spite of the Gunner’s noted Gallic connection. Monaco followed that tweet by thanking their erstwhile competitors for the advice.
Telling the French side to “shoot it like Ibra” PSG posted a clip of their star striker, 33-year-old Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic, scoring a free-kick against current Arsenal keeper David Ospina. The goal came when Ospina was playing for French side OGC Nice and was the winning goal in a 2-1 victory for the Parisians in their title-winning 2012/13 season.
PSG and Monaco are France’s only two remaining representatives in the Champions League. The former could only manage a 1-1 draw with Chelsea in their home tie.
Both sides have not quite reached their expected peaks in Ligue 1 so far this season, with PSG currently in second and Monaco in fourth.
