MK Dons defender Lee Hodson is a loan target for Birmingham.

The Northern Ireland international, who hopes to play for his country at Euro 2016 next summer, is being followed by his club’s Championship rivals.

Hodson, 24, has not played in the league as often as he would have liked this term and it is understood MK would consider allowing him to leave on a temporary basis.

While MK might be reluctant to allow Hodson to join another club in their division, they should consider interest from Portsmouth.

Pompey are fifth in League Two and fighting back after a dreadful period in which they have dropped from the Premier League to League Two in just three years.

They believe Hodson’s experience of a higher level could aid their bid for promotion. Hodson said: “I want to get in the squad for the Euros and the best chance for me to do that is to play regularly.”
