‘Bitter loser’ Arsene Wenger refuses to comment on Louis van Gaal dive after Arsenal’s defeat to Manchester United

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger didn’t wish to be branded a ‘bitter loser’ by condemning Louis van Gaal’s touchline antics, following the Gunners' defeat at Old Trafford.

The Gunners missed the chance to keep pace with league leaders Leicester City, while victory at White Hart Lane saw rivals Tottenham open a three-point lead over Wenger’s side.

But another of the weekend’s talking point involved Van Gaal, with the Manchester United boss simulating a dive on the touchline in order to vent his frustrations to the fourth official.

“I never regret my emotions,” said the Dutchman after the match. “In sport it’s good to show your emotions sometimes. But when it is like that I can’t just say it’s very wrong. But for the referee and officials it’s not so nice.

"I apologised to them but I won’t apologise for being emotional.”
