Standard Sport3 February 2015

Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood was installed as the early favourite to replace outgoing QPR boss Harry Redknapp.

Redknapp stepped down on Tuesday, less than 24 hours after he failed in an attempt to bolster his relegation-threatened squad on transfer deadline day. Rangers sit second from bottom in the Premier League with 19 points after a string of 11 successive away defeats, but Redknapp said in a statement that forthcoming surgery was behind his decision to quit the club.

And Sherwood, who has been out of work since he was sacked in May last year after leading Spurs to a sixth-place league finish, is as short as 1/14 to beat a list of familiar candidates and fill the vacant position.

QPR first-team coach Glenn Hoddle is 5/1 to take the hotseat, while former Rangers striker Les Ferdinand is priced at 10/1 to make a return to Loftus Road.

Former Swansea boss Michael Laudrup and Steve McClaren, who enjoyed a spell working as a coach under Redknapp at QPR in 2013, are also linked with the position, though both are early outsiders at 25/1.
