Carlo Cudicini is out for the season after horror crash

11 April 2012

Carlo Cudicini will miss the rest of the season as a result of his motorcycle accident.

The keeper expects to play again but will be on crutches for at least 12 weeks after being discharged from hospital. He has had operations on his wrist and pelvis.

Cudicini broke club rules by riding a motorbike to training but Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp refused to condemn the Italian for his choice of transport.

"I've never thought about letting a player ride a bike," said Redknapp. "I didn't even know he had one. We don't let them do it.

"I'm sure he won't be riding it again but it's just one of those things. I think he will be out for the rest of the season."

Cudicini's absence, coupled with a wrist injury to Jimmy Walker, means Spurs will be left exposed if Heurelho Gomes is sidelined. Redknapp has been linked with Manchester United keeper Ben Foster but hinted he would be reluctant to dislodge Gomes.

"I've got other keepers here, so I'll have to see how they do," said Redknapp, whose side face Wigan on Sunday. "But Gomes is my number one and has been fantastic this season."
