Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has told Carlos Tevez "everything will be as before" if he apologises for his actions in Munich a month ago.
The Argentinian striker's City career appeared to be over after Mancini accused him of refusing to warm up in the Champions League match against Bayern Munich on September 27.
He has since being fined two weeks' wages and has threatened to sue Mancini for defamation of character.
It is still widely assumed that Tevez, who has twice in his City career requested a transfer away for family reasons, will leave in January, but Mancini admitted the door remains open for Tevez to rebuild his bridges.
"Everything depends on Carlos," Mancini said in an interview with Corriere della Sera. "If he apologises to the squad and to me then everything will be as before.
"If he doesn't, then Tevez has a value that everyone knows and something will happen in January."
Mancini added that he believes his former captain is being led astray by his advisors.
"He is totally unprepared and being badly advised," Mancini said. "I don't want it to be like this and I would be the first to forgive him."
Tevez was City's top scorer last season and has 53 goals in 91 appearances, but he was stripped of the captaincy over the summer after making another transfer request, and made only five appearances, three as a substitute, in the first two months of the season as he struggled for fitness following an extended break.
He has fallen behind Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli in the strikers pecking order.
