Up in the air: Carlton Cole
Ken Dyer18 May 2015

West Ham striker Carlton Cole hopes manager Sam Allardyce’s future is resolved soon so he can start making his own plans for next season.

Cole, who like Allardyce will be out of contract at the end of the season, faces an uncertain summer after nine seasons at Upton Park.

“I haven’t spoken to the manager about the future,” admitted the former Chelsea striker. “It’s difficult because the manager doesn’t know about his own future yet.

“Whether I’m here or somewhere else though, I will always give 100 per cent. I would like to stay of course but we’ll see how things go.

“I’ve been here a long time. I have a connection with the fans and all the back-room staff. You could say I’m part of the furniture.

“If I’m not still here next season though, I would like to wish the club good luck. As for me, I will carry on with my life.”

Cole (below), 31, almost moved to West Brom on transfer deadline day but was recalled at the 11th hour because of a striker injury crisis at Upton Park.

“I’ve been through all these emotions before,” he said. “I thought I was leaving back in January but I’m still here. You never know what goes on in football.”
