Cesc Fabregas: Arsenal must beat Chelsea or the title race is over

Fears: Cesc Fabregas

Cesc Fabregas says Arsenal's Premier League title dream will be over for another year if they fail to beat Chelsea on Sunday.

The Gunners were torn apart as Manchester United ran riot at Emirates Stadium in a 3-1 win that saw Arsene Wenger's side fall five points behind the Blues at the top of the table.

That gap could be extended further should Chelsea win their game in hand against Hull tomorrow night and skipper Cesc Fabregas admits defeat for Arsenal at Stamford Bridge this weekend will make the deficit insurmountable.

"We have to bounce back straight away because we know we have two massive games against Chelsea away and Liverpool at home and it is going to be difficult," said the Spaniard.

"No one said it is going to be easy. We just have to be strong and see what happens next week. Chelsea is never a good game to have even if you are eight points clear or eight points behind.

"They know what they do and know how to play. We have to beat them to stay in the title race."

United outclassed Arsenal as an own goal from Manuel Almunia and strikes by Wayne Rooney and Ji-Sung Park gave the champions an unassailable lead before Thomas Vermaelen's consolation.

Fabregas insisted that Arsenal must remain upbeat.

"We have to be positive," he added. "It is very easy to say we lost to United and let our heads go down. We have to be strong.

"I really don't care what people think about us. It is about what we believe up until the end of the season.

"People are not going to play for us and it is up to us to show what we can do. People watch the football and enjoy it but we must do our talking on the pitch.

"If you don't believe, you don't win things. We want to believe we are still there — I am always realistic and I am not going to lie to anyone."
