Lionel Messi goal: Watch Barcelona double their lead against Liverpool at Camp Nou

Lionel Messi has doubled Barcelona’s lead in their Champions League semi-final first leg clash against Liverpool.

The Argentina international pounced on a loose ball inside the box after Luis Suarez’s effort struck the cross bar, controlling the ball on his chest before tapping home into an empty net for his 47th goal of the season.

Luis Suarez had earlier opened the scoring against former side during the first-half.

The Uruguay international peeled away from Virgil van Dijk to latch onto Jordi Alba’s superb cross from the left, beating Alisson from six yards out.

The game's opener was Suarez's first Champions League goal of the season and also Barcelona's 500th in the competition's history.

Suarez’s opener came after 26 minutes following a bright start to the contest from the visitors, who may have felt they should have had a penalty when Sadio Mane went down under pressure from Gerard Pique.

Liverpool have already been forced into an early change wih Jordan Henderson coming onto replace the injured Naby Keita after 25 minutes.
