Wesley Fofana downplays injury blow with Chelsea defender set for fresh scan

Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has moved to assure fans his injury is nothing to be concerned about.

The 22-year-old was forced off during a behind-closed-doors friendly win over Premier League rivals Brentford at Cobham, a game in which Kai Havertz scored a hat-trick.

Fofana’s opening few months at Stamford Bridge have proven frustrating after picking up a knee injury against AC Milan in October, forcing him to miss the World Cup.

The defender, who only returned to full training during the international break, is now set for a scan but posted a message on Instagram in which he appeared to downplay the severity of the injury.

“Nothing bad, champion, not even 1 month, we’re back to break everything,” he wrote in response to a post detailing his injury.

Manager Graham Potter is scheduled to hold a press conference on Friday ahead of Chelsea’s return to domestic action at home to Bournemouth on December 27.
