Chelsea manager Frank Lampard hopes to have Reece James back to face Fulham on Saturday after the right-back returned to training.

James has missed the last three games due a combination of knee and hamstring issues but he is in contention to return at Craven Cottage.

His return would be a welcome boost for Lampard, whose side have slipped to ninth in the table after a run of one win in six matches.

James has been in excellent form this season and has established himself as the first-choice right-back at Stamford Bridge ahead of Cesar Azpilicueta, while also breaking into Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

Andreas Christensen is also back in training after missing the start of the year with the knee injury he suffered in the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa on December 28.

N’Golo Kante missed last Sunday’s 4-0 FA Cup win over Morecambe with a hamstring issue and Lampard is set to provide an update on the midfielder’s fitness on Thursday.
