Axel Disasi has warned it is too early to say that “Chelsea are back”, but insists the Blues can take confidence from their display at Manchester City into the Carabao Cup final.

Disasi starred as Chelsea warmed up for their Wembley showdown against Liverpool with a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

The 25-year-old defender made 16 clearances against City, the most by a Chelsea player in a Premier League game in eight seasons, and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher hailed what he described as “a John Terry performance”.

A late Rodri equaliser denied Chelsea three points after Raheem Sterling had put them in front but Disasi believes their performance was perfect preparation for Liverpool.

“The last three games have been good but we have to stay humble and keep going as we are now and push forward,” Disasi told Standard Sport.

“Since the start of the season there have been a lot of expectations, just because we played well in the last three games doesn’t mean we should say, ‘Chelsea are back’.

“No, we have to stay humble, but you can see we are growing and improving. We have to stay like this, stay humble, and keep this level.

“Next is the final and we have to learn from this game. We showed we can take a lot of confidence before the next game. We need to rest and prepare for this final very well.”

Disasi will line up at Wembley for the first time on Sunday and the £38.6million summer signing from Monaco insists that Chelsea are confident as they target their first trophy since the 2021 Champions League.

“I’ve never played at Wembley,” he said. “But I visited this stadium with my school when we visited London for the weekend.

“I think it was a West Ham game. It was great, very nice. The stadium was very big. [Levi] Colwill and [Ben] Chilwell have told me the stadium is very great.

“I am excited. It will be great to play there. It is a dream to play there and in every big stadium in the world, and to have the opportunity to win the first title since coming here.”
