Bruno Guimaraes has already made Newcastle future clear amid Chelsea interest

Bruno Guimaraes has already made his future clear amid links with a move to Chelsea.

The Brazilian has proven a revelation for Newcastle United, establishing himself as the centre-piece of their new era.

A hero amongst the supporters, Guimaraes was of long-standing interest to Arsenal prior before joining Newcastle and recent reports suggest Chelsea are now keen.

Real Madrid were also credited with an interest after selling Casemiro to Manchester United, though Guimaraes himself has recently ruled a move to Spain out, at this point in time at least.

Tempting him away from St James’ Park, however, could be difficult.

Having signed a six-year contract after joining from Lyon, Newcastle would surely be under little pressure to sell even if a formal offer were to be lodged.

Flying high in the Premier League and with the prospect of a European campaign to come next season, Guimaraes has frequently made his intentions clear.

Speaking after being praised by Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane on a recent edition of Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, the former Lyon star said: “For sure, it’s always a pleasure to hear things like that.

“It is one more motivation, but this is only my first full season at Newcastle.

“There is a long way to go. I love playing here, I love to bond with the fans, and I want to become a legend here.”
