Petr Cech has earmarked Liverpool’s trip to Stamford Bridge on Sunday as a chance to secure another Chelsea record.

Following successive clean sheets for the first time this season against Arsenal and Swansea City, Cech is hoping the Blues can maintain a resilient defensive line for the Reds’ visit.

And the 31-year-old has his sights set on Peter Bonetti’s club best 208 clean sheets, a feat the former England international managed in 729 appearances for the Stamford Bridge club.

But Cech will match it if he can keep the Premier League’s second-highest scorers at bay in just his 456th Chelsea appearance.

"It would obviously be fantastic to get that in the Liverpool game,” Cech said

"Beating Swansea with the other results that day was an important three points and now we are in a good position to go face to face with Liverpool.

"You need everybody to do as much as possible to defend and not give away cheap goals because, as the fatigue accumulates in this hectic period, it becomes more difficult to find the energy to overturn games.

"When you get the lead and keep a clean sheet it is more easy to win a game.

"If we can score more goals it will become easier for us."
