Lucas Piazon may have reservations over Chelsea's loan system, but Alex Kiwomya's Crewe Alexandra spell is already bearing fruit.

Brazilian youngster Piazon has suggested that the current set-up 'makes no sense' for Chelsea's young players, with 38 currently out on loan.

However, Kiwomya - on loan at Crewe - has been nominated for the League Two player of the month award following a strong August showing, with three goals earning him a nomination.

Kiwomya struck against Stevenage, Hartlepool and Newport to help Crewe sit 10th after six games.

A statement on Crewe's website read: "Everyone would like to congratulate Alex on his nomination with the winners being announced later in the week."

An EFL statement praised Kiwomya's performances, reading: "A substitute in the first two games, the 20-year-old has quickly established himself at Crewe with his direct running at opposition players.

"Kiwomya's exciting dribbling skills and confident finishing saw him score stunning individual goals at Stevenage and Newport County."
