Marcos Alonso has called on Chelsea to win every Premier League game to stand any chance of retaining the title.

The Spaniard's free-kick saw the Blues record their eighth win in 10 league games with victory over Southampton on Saturday, but they remain 14 points behind a Manchester City side who have dropped just two points in 18 games.

Antonio Conte has called talk of Chelsea winning the league this season as "bulls***", but Alonso has not given up hope and set him and his team-mates a bold target to defy the odds.

"We have to do what is in our hands and win our games," he told the club's official website.

"It was very disappointing the defeat against West Ham but the response this week was good and this is the way to follow in our next few games.

"Big teams have to do this and we did it this week. It is still a long way to go and we have to win every game now."

"It was a very good minute to score and I am happy to help the team get the three points. I had another couple of chances and I was a bit unlucky. The ball came to my right foot which is not my stronger one."
