Chelsea are on course to win the title and they could also set the record for the number of days spent at the top of the Premier League table.

Jose Mourinho’s side have spent the entire season either top or joint top of the table and they will set a new record of going 274 days at summit if they stay there until the end of the season.

Chelsea have officially been in first place since Aug 30 and Tottenham are the only other team to have been on top this season, when they were briefly led the top flight on goal difference after two games.

Manchester United currently hold the record for the most number of days at the top of the table, having spent 262 days there during the 1993-94 season.

Chelsea, who face Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Sunday, are seven points clear at the top with a game in hand.

“It's become something normal for us this season to know that we are top of the league,” said Mourinho. “To win the league we need five victories and one draw.”
