Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has assured AC Milan they will soon see his best form after a poor start to his loan spell in Italy.

The 24-year-old joined the Blues in a £40 million deal from AS Monaco last summer but was frozen out of the first team after a disastrous second half to the season.

As a result, he was farmed out on loan to the Serie A giants after being told he wasn't part of Maurizio Sarri's plans and has struggled to make an impression at San Siro.

Coach Gennaro Gattuso has remarked that Bakayoko is finding it difficult to adapt to the team's shape and has only used the France international sparingly in the league, having coming for just seven minutes in the derby against Inter Milan.

But Bakayoko believes that in good time, his temporary employers will see his best level.

“I’ve been very well received,” he told reporters ahead of AC Milan's Europa League match against Real Betis.

“It’s a good group and my integration has gone very well, I’m trying to adapt the way I play. The best of me has yet to come and it’d be better to play a bit more, but I’m already seeing improvements.

“A lot of things have changed, it’s a new league and a new style of football but I’m trying to give my best.

“With time you’ll see the Bakayoko you talk about.”

Reports have suggested the Italian club are ready to cut short Bakayoko's loan if his performances do not improve, with his loan spell due to expire until the end of the season.
