Chelsea player ratings vs Sevilla: Perfect 10 for Olivier Giroud

1/4

Chelsea sauntered to a 4-0 victory in Seville as an Olivier Giroud masterclass secured top spot in Champions League Group E.

Chelsea player ratings

Edouard Mendy 8

Lampard made a lot of changes – but not his undisputed No1. A brilliant point blank save from Rekik kept Chelsea in front.

Cezar Azpilicueta 6

Aggressive in his forward play and his support of Hudson-Odoi saw him create a good chance for Pulisic early on.

Andreas Christensen 7

Stood up well to Sevilla’s physical and aerial threat. A positive return to action in a rare start.

Antonio Rudiger 8

Looks so comfortable every time he comes in. Once again, didn't let Chelsea down. Commanding in the air.

Emerson 6

Pressed forward when he could to offer a decent outlet on the left and solid at the back.

Mateo Kovacic 8

Worked hard and effective pinching possession from Sevilla, driving forward and providing probing passes – including one for Giroud’s second.

Jorginho 7

Held Chelsea’s midfield together with a steadying influence with his intelligent use of the ball.

Kai Havertz 7

A really positive performance from the German in his first start since testing positive for Covid. Hurt Sevilla with his passing – including the assist for Giroud’s opener.

Callum Hudson-Odoi 7

Determined to make an impression and did so again as he looked to burst forward with the ball.

Olivier Giroud 10

AP

A perfect hat-trick on a perfect night for Giroud. One with his left, one with his right and a third with his head. All three were taken with such aplomb it’s hard to pick the best. Brilliant.

Christian Pulisic 6

His hamstring looks just fine and on another day might have had more to show for a performance that was full of attacking intent.

Hakim Ziyech (Kovacic, 67’) 5

Added to Sevilla’s worries.

N’Golo Kante (Havertz, 67’) 6

Immediate influence when setting up Giroud’s hat-trick strike.

Mason Mount (Pulisic, 67’) 5

So close to adding to Chelsea’s lead just moments after coming on.

Werner (Giroud, 85’)

Gilmour (Jorginho, 85’)

Subs not used: Kepa, Caballero, Tomori, James, Chilwell, Alonso, Abraham.
