Chelsea prepare £4million bid for teenager

3 July 2012

Chelsea will make a £4million bid for 16-year-old Southampton left back Luke Shaw this week.

Shaw is an academy graduate at St Mary’s and made his first-team debut in the FA Cup against Millwall last season.

But the Saints, who won automatic promotion to the Premier League last season, are under no pressure to sell another starlet, the Daily Mail reports.

If Shaw does move to Stamford Bridge, he will follow in the footsteps of Theo Walcott, Gareth Bale and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – who all made big-money moves away from the South Coast.
