Chelsea recall Patrick Bamford from Burnley loan as Diego Costa’s future remains in doubt

Chelsea have recalled striker Patrick Bamford from his loan spell at Burnley.

Bamford has never played for the current Premier League leaders. He has also spent time on loan at MK Dons, Derby, Crystal Palace and Norwich.

Burnley said in a tweet: "Patrick Bamford has ended his loan spell with Burnley after being recalled by parent club Chelsea."

Bamford’s return would offer Antonio Conte extra options in attack as the future of top goalscorer Diego Costa remains in doubt.

It is believed that CSL side is prepared to pay Costa in excess of £570,000-a-week, more than three times what he currently earns at Stamford Bridge.

There have also been reports that Middlesbrough are keen on signing the 23-year-old, who had a spell on loan with the Teesside club in the 2014-2015 season during which time he scored 17 goals.
