Radamel Falcao's disappointing season has taken a new turn for the worse after the Chelsea striker was left out of Colombia's Copa America squad.

The 30-year-old has been omitted from Jose Pekerman's provisional 40-man team to play in the centenary edition of the Copa America tournament, which begins on 3 June and runs until 26 June, in the USA.

Falcao last played for his nation in Colombia's 3-0 World Cup qualifying loss against Uruguay in October before he missed the next two games through injury.

He was then left out of the team that took on Bolivia and Ecuador in March, both of which ended in wins for Colombia, and will now miss out on representing his country at the Copa America.

The news caps off a poor campaign for Falcao, who has been on loan at Chelsea from Monaco this season.

The striker has started just two games for the Blues since arriving at Stamford Bridge last summer, and has made just one substitute appearance following Guus Hiddink's appointment in December due to a combination of poor form and injury.
