Pep Guardiola wants to bring Luis Suarez back to the Premier League next season.

Guardiola looks likely to move to the top flight next summer after announcing he will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the campaign, and both Manchester City and Chelsea are keen to land him.

The former Barcelona coach has already started making plans and Standard Sport understands Barcelona forward Suarez and Bayern midfielder Thiago Alcantara are high on his wanted list.

That would mean a remarkable return to English football for Suarez after he left under a cloud in the summer of 2014.

The brilliant Uruguay forward went close to inspiring Liverpool to the title before damaging his reputation by biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini during a group game at the World Cup.

Suarez joined Barcelona soon afterwards for £75million and has had a stellar spell there, winning the Champions League and the domestic double last season.

This season, the 28-year-old has scored 26 goals in as many matches, combining with Lionel Messi and Neymar to spectacular effect. Suarez earns about £200,000 a week and has a contract until the summer of 2019 — an easy package for City or Chelsea to match or improve on.

Thiago followed Guardiola from Barcelona to Bayern. Although the Spain midfielder never established himself in the first team at the Nou Camp, Guardiola urged Bayer to make Thiago’s signing a priority.

At Barcelona, Xavi Hernandez made Guardiola’s team tick and Guardiola believes Thiago can operate at a similar level.

Even though Thiago’s career has been interrupted by injuries, the 24-year-old is the man around whom Guardiola would like to build his midfield at his next club. Thiago picks up around £140,000 a week in Bavaria, and signed a four-year contract in August 2015 but again those terms can be bettered by the English giants.
