Chelsea will not be put off from making a second bid for John Stones despite running the risk of angering Everton manager Roberto Martinez even further.
It is believed Chelsea have been left mystified by claims that Everton sent them a letter last week with the strict instruction that the England defender was not available for transfer.
While Chelsea did receive a letter before a third party leaked news of a £20m offer on Friday, it is understood it did not state that the 21-year-old was not for sale at any price.
Martinez has been very outspoken in his criticism of Chelsea's behaviour, expressing his 'disappointment of seeing a football club leaking such statements to the press and making it so open'.
Chelsea are confident they can lure the England international to Stamford Bridge and are planning to return with a second offer of around £26m this week.
Mourinho also believes the club have done nothing wrong and is understood to be maintaining the stance he spoke clearly about at the weekend.
He said: "The transfer window is open, when it is open every club and every player is open to bids.
"Bids come for our players, we make bids for other players and the process can be so simple.
"I would advise Roberto to do the same thing as I do. If I get an offer for one of my players and I don’t want to accept any offer I say I don’t accept any offer, so he can make it very, very easy.
"If today I receive a bid for (Cesc) Fabregas in two minutes I will say I don't accept any bid, game over, that's it."
