Mauricio Pochettino will meet Chelsea’s owners and co-sporting directors this week to discuss the club’s summer transfer budget in light of its £90million losses.
Manager Pochettino is under pressure with the Blues languishing in 11th place in the table, but he has revealed he will be involved in the conversation about how to improve the squad in the upcoming transfer window.
On Thursday, Chelsea posted pre-tax losses of £90.1m over the 12 months up to June 2023 — the first year under the co-ownership of Todd Boehly and Behdad Egbali.
The club have already spent more than £1billion in transfers under the new regime.
When asked on Thursday whether he has been given clarity on Chelsea’s summer transfer policy, Pochettino, 52, replied: “I don’t know. I don’t know because I need to be informed. Until today, we haven’t talked about that.
“Today the club announced the finances. This afternoon or tomorrow we will talk, and after tomorrow I will be informed for sure. But I don’t know what is going to happen.
“I only just saw that the club announced it. But I’ve still not spoken with the owners or the sporting director. I cannot give my opinion on it. I don’t know anything.”
The £90.1m losses announced by Chelsea were only a fraction of the £653m net losses posted by the club’s parent company BlueCo, for the period between March 2022 and June 2023.
BlueCo owns 100 per cent stakes in both Chelsea and Ligue 1 side Strasbourg.
