Eden Hazard says he doesn’t care about Maurizio Sarri’s recent criticism of his performances after starring in his side's EFL Cup victory over Tottenham.

The Chelsea boss described Hazard as “more an individual player than a leader” whose “potential is higher than his performances” in the wake of his side’s meek defeat to Arsenal last Saturday.

Restored to his natural position on the left having been deployed as a false nine in recent weeks, the Belgium international tormented Tottenham in the second-leg of the EFL Cup semi-final at Stamford Bridge, scoring his side’s second goal en route to a penalty shootout victory.

Speaking to Sky Sports post-match, Hazard said: "It is always good to bounce back after a tough game. Today we did well for 90 minutes.

"We controlled the game in the first half. They had one chance and scored. At the end we go through to the final so tonight we are happy."

Asked whether he was angered by criticism from Maurizio Sarri: "I don't care. I just play my football. It doesn't matter what the manager said. I just focus on my football and want to do my best for this team."
