Olivier Giroud could be ready to leave Chelsea at the end of the season after growing frustrated with his bit-part role at Stamford Bridge.

Giroud has started just six games in the Premier League this season with most of his first-team action coming in the Europa League.

The France international has scored nine goals in his last seven appearances in the competition, helping the Blues reach the quarter-final stage.

Despite that return, he has been unable to force his way into Maurizio Sarri’s league side with Gonzalo Higuain still preferred up front despite scoring just three goals since his arrival on loan in January.

The 32-year-old now admits his future in west London is uncertain, adding he would be willing to “go down a level” and return to France to improve his first-team prospects.

“Of course it is frustrating,” Giroud told RTL. “Today, I have the impression that there is clearly no competition since January.

"I know that I will only play in the Europa League. I try to do what it takes to be the most effective and the most important for the team.

“My future may be hectic this summer. I am not afraid to go down a level to have more playing time. It could be that I end my career in France.”
