Victor Moses isn't going to let the chance to play regularly for Chelsea this season pass him by, according to Pat Nevin.

Moses joined Chelsea from Wigan Athletic six years ago but has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge.

The Nigeria international has spent time on loan at Liverpool, Stoke and West Ham in recent years but he appeared unlikely to have done enough to secure a place in Chelsea's first-team squad at the start of the summer.

However, Antonio Conte has started to use Moses in an unfamiliar wing back role as part of his new 3-4-3 formation, which has served the Blues very well in recent weeks.

Moses has the look a player determined to finally make his mark in west London and Nevin is pleased to see the 25-year-old flourishing.

"Considering how hard it has been for him to break into the Chelsea team, or indeed even stay at the club, you understand his current desire," Nevin told Chelsea's official website.

"He has the air of a man who has been given a chance he never thought he would get, and by God he isn’t going to let it go," he added.

Moses' route to regular game time appeared to be blocked in the early weeks of the season but his willingness to defend - has helped him to secure a place under Conte.

Wing backs are crucial to the success of the Italian's preferred system and Nevin is adamant Moses will benefit from Chelsea's lack of European football as he attempts to adjust to his new position.

"With Willian and Pedro around, it might have seemed like a lost cause again for Victor this season, but then came the 3-4-3 and everything slotted into place," Nevin added.

"I hope he continues to have a run in the side and with more performances like this weekend’s [against Southampton], that is not going to be a problem.

"Maybe what is helping more than anything else is a lack of many midweek games.

"Moses may be incredibly fit and have the physique of a middleweight boxer, but playing three positions simultaneously every game can get wearing for anyone."
