Petr Cech believes Chelsea’s brilliant home form could make the difference in the Premier League title race, writes Simon Johnson.

Last night’s 1-0 win ensured Chelsea maintained their seven-point lead over Manchester City and took their tally to 34 points from a possible 36 at Stamford Bridge.

“When we play at home we believe it’s our advantage,” said Cech. “I’d say it could make the difference.

“Everywhere we go we have the same approach to win games but we seem to do it all the time at home.”

Jose Mourinho’s side have failed to impress in recent weeks, barring a 5-0 win at Swansea, but have still managed to retain their advantage at the top of the table.

Cech said: “In a difficult time you need to survive the moment which is not going well. You need to have the discipline not to do things which don’t help but try things which might help you through the difficult period.

“In doing so again against Everton, we have the belief that once we overcome a difficult period, we can come out on top of it.”
