Chelsea's Eden Hazard the worst player in the worst team display I've seen - Belgium coach Marc Wilmots

Marc Wilmots slammed Eden Hazard's performance against Cyprus on Sunday after Belgium squeezed past the hosts to keep Euro 2016 qualifying Group B alive.

The Chelsea forward struck in the 85th minute as the Red Devils won 1-0 to ensure the champagne remained on ice in Wales. Anything other than victory for Belgium would have seen Chris Coleman's side, who drew 0-0 at home to Israel earlier on Sunday, qualify for Euro 2016, but the Welsh were made to wait.

Belgium moved to within a point of group leaders Wales with victory, but Wilmots was in no mood to celebrate after watching what he described as 'the worst team performance I have seen'.

The 46-year-old hauled off Christian Benteke at the break, accusing the Liverpool striker of putting in a 'half-performance', but Hazard received the most stick.

"He (Hazard) was the worst tonight," Wilmots said. "I thought about substituting him, but in the last 10 minutes he always has the ability to do that. At the World Cup, this was the case.

"I obviously expect more from him, but he will grow as the season progresses."
