England Under-21s head coach Aidy Boothroyd has challenged Chelsea's Mason Mount and Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho to maintain their form and earn senior caps.

Sancho has made the breakthrough in the Bundesliga after opting to leave Manchester City last summer, with Tottenham initially showing interest, while Mount has scored 14 goals while on loan at Vitesse.

Mount, 19, and Sancho, 18, are yet to earn an Under-21 cap but Boothroyd says being fast-tracked to Gareth Southgate's senior side in a possibility.

"Anyone [Phil Foden] who can get into Manchester City's team - that's a hell of a team - is doing well," Boothroyd told Press Association Sport.

"Sancho, Mason Mount, these are all young players doing really well in their teams at the moment.

"Tom Davies and Trent Alexander-Arnold - these guys keep doing what they are doing, they are going past the Under-21s.

"There's a time to keep them together and a time to push on. We don't bring players up to be on the bench. If they are playing and thriving they will get moved up."
